AYS AUDITION PREP CLASS
The Audition Prep Class assists prospective AYS musicians as they prepare to record and submit auditions for the 2024-25 Season. Participants get a sneak peek into how to practice and prepare, as well as a chance to observe and play along with AYS at some of their rehearsals this Spring!
Dates
Classes will take place on Monday evenings, April 8, April 15, and April 22.
6-6:45 pm: Class
6:45-7 pm: Break (with snacks!)
7-8 pm: Observe and/or play along with the orchestra (optional)

Eligibility: Musicians age 14 or grade 9 in the Fall of 2024
Fee: $75
Class Schedule:
April 8 – How to practice for this audition and other performances
– Participants may observe Anchorage Youth Symphony rehearsal until 8 pm if desired.
April 15 – How to prepare for your audition and for being in AYS
– Participants may sit in their instrument section during Anchorage Youth Symphony rehearsal until 8 pm if desired.
April 22 – Audition Masterclass (bring your instruments)
– Playing in the Masterclass is not required.
– Volunteers will be chosen to perform their audition excerpts and receive feedback.
– Participants may play along with their instrument section in Anchorage Youth Symphony rehearsal until 8 pm if desired.
Attendance at all 3 class periods is not required, but is recommended and is covered by the $75 class fee.

– AYS Spring Concert parts for your instrument found HERE (Schubert, Sousa, Price, and Shostakovich) (violins may choose 1st or 2nd violin part)
– Pencil, note paper, and water bottle
