Anchorage Youth Symphony

2026-27 Season Auditions:

Auditions on all instruments open March 1, 2026

Submission Deadline: June 1, 2026

The Anchorage Youth Symphony (AYS) is a fully symphonic youth ensemble. Each season musicians audition for an opportunity to be selected based on skill and according to the needs of their instrument section.

Eligibility: Age 14 or Grade 9 – college at the start of Fall 2025
Skill Level: Intermediate – Advanced
To Apply: Submit your video audition on GetAccepted.com
Requirements: See the audition requirements for your instrument below.
Rehearsals: Mondays, 5:30-8 pm, August – May held at The Nave, 3502 Spenard Rd.
Concerts: Held quarterly at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts
Tuition: Current tuition is $800 per year (need-based scholarships available for application upon acceptance)

Before submitting, you must first setup a free GetAcceptd profile for each prospective musician who wishes to audition – unless you already have a profile. Teachers and parents may set up profiles on behalf of their musicians.

To submit your audition application:
– Locate your instrument excerpts on this page
– Log into your GetAccetpd.com profile
– Under Application Tracker enter Alaska Youth Orchestras in the Search Organizations space
– A drop down will appear where you can click on our organization
– Alaska Youth Orchestras 26-27 season will then be added to your application tracker
– You can also search by clicking the Directory Menu at the top of the page and entering our name
– When applications open (March 1) you will be able to begin your application by clicking on it
– To begin your application click Select Program under Start an Application
– Select Anchorage Youth Symphony Video Auditions for your instrument to begin your application
– Applications can be started and continued at a later date (all info/videos can be saved)
– Double check the audition excerpt instruction page to see how videos should be recorded (there are 5 required videos)
– Amateur video is expected, audition video will be evaluated based on performance, not on video or audio quality
– However, please take care to ensure we can hear and see you on the video
– Please plan to upload your videos with extra time and patience (large files take extra time to upload)
– Once your application is complete, submit and pay the $35 application fee before before the due date.
– Audition responses will be sent via email within 4 weeks of the application due date.
– Accepted musicians will be able to register for the Anchorage Youth Symphony 2026-27 season immediately after being notified
– Registration instructions will appear on the Anchorage Youth Symphony page of this website
